I was impressed by the testimony of Officer Allin that he knew the defendant and his family well, by virtue of his position as the non-commissioned officer of the Ethiopian community in Jaffa for about 7 years, and was involved in the terrible tragedy that befell the defendant and his family due to the death of his brother.  In his testimony, Officer Alin stated without concealment, except for the defendant's denial in his testimony in court, that the defendant's mother called him "Yayo."

  1. Policeman Emanuel Aviv, who serves as an intelligence and detective officer in the Crime Fighting Unit in the Ayalon region, presented the court with an action report that he filled out on the day of the shooting, July 20, 2022 at 13:21, which shows, inter alia, that he arrived at the defendant's residential address at 8 Saharon Street, Tel Aviv, Apartment 4, following the identification of the defendant as a suspect in the shooting by the non-commissioned officer of the Ethiopian community, based on a photo distributed to him. Officer Aviv stated that he arrived at the defendant's apartment on the second floor, and after he knocked on the door several times, Ms. Tilaya Tarkin opened it, with a girl named Kabanchialem Tarkin next to her.  Policeman Emanuel Aviv noted that he introduced himself and asked Ms. Tilaya Tarkin who "Yayo" was ("Ayo"), and she replied that it was her son, but he was not at home, and was probably at work.  Policeman Emanuel Aviv asked to talk to him, so she called him herself from her phone.  Then, he said, a phone rang in the staircase below, so he and the police team went down the stairs and met the guy who looked like the photo circulated following the shooting.  Policeman Emanuel Aviv stated the details of his clothing: orange shorts, a black short shirt, and a black casket hat (P/12).  What was stated in the action report filled out by Policeman Emanuel Aviv was not hidden in his testimony.

Thus, the testimony of Policeman Emanuel Aviv indicates that the defendant's mother answered his question and stated that "Yayo" was her son.  Following the fact that her son called her son from her phone in front of the policeman, and immediately a phone rang that led to the arrest and arrest of the defendant, it is clear that her intention was to her son - Ashbir Tarkin.
