During the time of the British Mandate in Israel (1920-1948), similar to the conduct of the British Empire in the British colonies at such time, English admiralty law was applied, including the Colonial Courts of Admiralty Act 1890, Admiralty Court Act, 1840, Admiralty Court Act, 1861 and applicable case law. In 1960.

Our office deals with any issue related to maritime and admiralty law, including licensing of ships in Israel, tankering issues, maritime tenders, collection of debts, maritime environmental issues and maritime labor law.

Adv. Doron Afik, the managing partner of the Afik & Co. law firm, also serves as the director in Israeli of Island Petroleum Limited, of the Petronav Cypriot group of companies, who won the Haifa port marine bunkering tender and a similar tender for the Ashdod port. Thus, our office has vast knowledge of the business side of the maritime activity, staff management, marine activity tenders, maritime environment related issues, and many other issues related to the operation of ships, including legal proceedings in Courts on such issues, and we assist our clients in all areas related to the business and legal side of their maritime operations.
