The Fence of Dispute at the Present Time

  1. The trend that has emerged in recent years, and especially since the filing of the petitions, is of the IDF's progress - measured but consistent - towards the goal of meeting the obligation of equality. This trend is reflected in the new units whose ranks have been opened to women since the petitions were filed; They are on the steady rise in the participation of women in the combat system in the existing units.  The path in which the respondents are walking is encouraging - and the way it has come so far is noteworthy.

However, the current situation is still lacking, since the desired result in which women will be integrated into all the positions that are the subject of the petitions in this case has not yet been achieved - Except for those for whom it has been determined otherwise in accordance with the exception prescribed by law.  As my colleague determined, many combat roles - in special and elite units, and in the infantry and armored professions - They are still closed to women, without it being determined that due to the nature and nature of the position, it is not possible to integrate women into them.  in many of these units - The possibility of integrating women has not yet been tried even in a pilot format.  This situation is inconsistent with the provisions of the law.

Also with regard to the positions that are the subject of the order nisi before us and the opening of experiments in them, although, as stated, a leap has been made that should not be taken lightly - It cannot be said that we have reached the desired goal.  The military does recognize its obligations to comply with the provisions of the order nisi - But there is still a long way to go.  The respondents themselves emphasized that a gradual process should be conducted, and even though a certain response was given to the heads of the order nisi - The full realization of these three heads will take a long time, and it requires an investment of command attention and a broad allocation of resources.
