The witness, Prof. Gad Rennert:   Okay, so unfortunately it's not a good thing.  So what?

Adv. Mr. D.  Or Chen:         Don't you take that into account? You say only the device interests me.

The witness, Prof. Gad Rennert:   I'm talking to you.

Adv. Mr. D.  Or Chen:         You weren't interested in the irregularities, you weren't interested in indictments.  You weren't interested in fines.  You, it doesn't interest you, so you say.  You constantly talk about a device when a device doesn't exist.  The standard exists, but it is constantly violated.

The witness, Prof. Gad Rennert:   But don't you understand that the question is, is there a connection? There is no significance to the deviation of SO2, if SO2 It is not a carcinogen.  It could be that there is a connection to the unknown, to the difficulty of sleeping at night, I have no idea.  But on the question of whether there are, I have to be interested in the number of deviations, so first of all as a citizen I don't want deviations.

Adv. Mr. D.  Or Chen:         Not as a citizen, as an expert who gives an opinion on behalf of the factories, who doesn't know what their irregularities are, doesn't check it and it doesn't interest him.

The witness, Prof. Gad Rennert:   True, because my question is, does air pollution cause diseases? And to this I answer you exactly.

(Expanded 1916-1919).

  1. Rennert was also asked about his opinion and answered as follows:

Adv. Mr. D.  Or Chen:         But you still come to court and say emphatically that this cancer can be caused by smoking, by transportation, but not by industry, not by certain carcinogens that come out of the respondents' factories?

The witness, Prof. Gad Rennert:   Not true, but here you are in my mouth with words that I did not say

Adv. Mr. D.  Or Chen:         So what is it?

The witness, Prof. Gad Rennert:   The only substance that is certainly carcinogenic that we know from the industry, the Gulf industry, we talked about, is P 2.5.  The oil industry, also benzene, but benzene toluene, BTX.
