A:           Yes, Rothman's

Q:          The Cookie Model It makes it possible to make qualitative determinations retrospectiveness of a causal relationship, But using this model, if I understand correctly, Can't be done Prospective Assessment of the degree of risk that a particular factor will cause the disease.  Is that correct? This model.

A:           I understand exactly what you're asking because I'll say right, I agree, okay....  I didn't deal with it, it doesn't appear in the reviews at all, so maybe it's a shame, not to deal with the possibility of doing it.

(p. 372, lines 15-23).

Prof. Lin later replied:

Q:        You're there too, it's on pages 54 and־55 To the article, you also say that a distinction should be made between a statistical estimate of the population's risk of morbidity in the future and the retrospective determination with respect to a person who has already been infected in the past.  The prospective calculation of the probability that a person exposed to a carcinogen will get sick in the future should take into account the quantity of the carcinogen, its concentration or the duration of exposure to it, right?

The Honorable Judge D.  Chasdai: It's page 54 in the middle.

Q:        Yes, but to the person you park there later, in light of the fact of the disease, there is a high probability of a causal connection to the carcinogen, and the quantity, concentration or duration of exposure in the past is not important.  Right? Just for the record.

A:        Yes, word for word that I wrote in an article that is PEER REVIEWED By the way, which has been criticized.

Q:        I mean, it also means, This passage also means that it is not possible to use the cookie theory to estimate the future risk of a certain group getting sick in the futureRight? That's what you said earlier, actually.

A:        I say, I'm talking here individually versus a group, True

Q:        Yes, on a group

A:        Yes, yes

(pp. 372-373) (See also: his testimony on page 392).

  1. Lin was asked about the theory he presented as follows:

Adv. Mr. Amos Goren:        So if air pollution in a certain dose joins with other components, and a sufficient cause of illness is created, that air pollution in a small dose joins in a sufficient cause of the disease, along with COMPONENTS We make up in rarer circumstances, right?
