The considerable material difficulties were compounded by severe social ostracism from which the family suffered from the time of the second arrest.  Their home, which used to be an open place for social hospitality and to extend help to everyone, has become a lonely place, and they have stayed."Alone in the world".  Anger, hatred and contempt were shown towards her husband from all sides, largely because he was a famous figure.  The media ambushed them outside the house and blackened his face with false reports.  After the electronic handcuff was removed from her husband, and she was walking with him one day in a market in Jerusalem, people spat on him and hurled harsh remarks at him.  Because of this, they were forced to impose social restrictions on themselves: "We're not going anywhere massive, we're not going anywhere we're [not] going last, we're not showing ourselves where we shouldn't be".  Their children have experienced an identity crisis, and the youngest daughter copes with the difficulty by avoiding the Messiah.

The witness told of the search that representatives of the Department for the Investigation of Police conducted at their home shortly after the second arrest, in a humiliating and insensitive manner.  Search Operations "They turned the whole house upside down, searched underground for hidden safes that they obviously didn't find", and finally they took with them the little money her brother had given her, and even the last money she had left in her wallet.  The humiliation and violation of the community's dignity did not end with the search itself.  Shortly after the search, she was shocked to watch a video of the search in her bedroom on television, during which officers from the Department for the Investigation of Police were seen counting the little money they had found.

Another difficult experience during the trial was when police officers arrived at their home early in the morning to arrest their son because of a Facebook post he had written for the state's witness in which he asked her "How are you happy when we're sad?" (or words in a similar style).  The son was arrested on suspicion of harassing a witness, and although no proceedings were finally taken against him, this incident also left a deep trauma.
