In fact, as the investigator Fouad Fares noted (December 13, 2022, p. 1543), with regard to the murder and its derivatives, the defendant filled his mouth with water. In only some of the interrogations, the defendant referred to various matters, including the search of his home, the legal dispute over the land and the compound, the negative attitude of the police towards him, etc., but with regard to the murder and the evidence indicating his involvement in the murder, the defendant did not make any reference in his many interrogations. It should also be noted that watching the defendant's lengthy interrogations shows that he made sure to look carefully at the videos that were presented before his eyes, even at times his body was particularly tilted, and did not remark, even once, that he had difficulty watching or seeing.
In the sixth statement taken by the head of the investigation team, Shai Peleg, on April 27, 2021 (P/6, P/6B), the defendant continued to remain silent and did not respond to the questions he was asked and to the evidence thrown at him, including the shoes he appeared to be wearing in the videos and the shoes seized from him, which are similar in several respects to the shoes found in the driveway of the car in Daliyat al-Carmel (the likes of which were placed on the interrogation table during the interrogation). Among other things, the defendant was asked if he had given the Chevrolet car to someone for a certain period of time, or if another person was driving the car (P/6B, p. 8, s. 21 ff.), but the defendant remained silent and did not respond, even though in further interrogation he would say that he actually had confidence in the interrogator Shai Peleg, who interrogated him this time.
At the end of the interrogation, the interrogator addressed the defendant's arguments in the court detention proceedings, told him that the team acted in an honest and decent manner, that it presented the bulk of evidence to its eyes, and asked him to give his version, and that he was entitled to relate to this or that detail if he wished, but the defendant persisted, as usual, in not giving any response.
