Thus, and in more detail, it can be seen that at the beginning of the confrontation, Tawfiq answers the questions calmly, while giving explanations as to why it was possible to believe that he was fighting with the deceased because he held him and tried to prevent him from attacking the defendant. Tawfiq's behavior changes, almost from one end to the other, at the stage when he speaks about the threat that the defendant made. Thus, among other things, he raises his voice, begins to shout, stands, approaches the defendant, points in his direction with his finger, and knocks on the table. Needless to say, Tawfiq details the threat made by the defendant, even though he was not asked about it, on his own initiative and as part of his answer to the defendant's version that he was the one who quarreled with the deceased. It can also be seen that Tawfiq, who up until that point had spoken Hebrew, switched to Arabic, his mother tongue, which adds an additional dimension of authenticity.
Tawfiq also adds details about the threat, noting that the deceased turned to the defendant's father in order to calm him down: "Ahh... And why did Muhammad tell you, to your father when he was on his way back, calm down your son, he went to get the Dodge, I don't know what he wants to do, what, Muhammad didn't say that to your father, he didn't tell him that ?..." (p. 61).
The defendant responds by telling Tawfiq that he will swear by the Koran and his family, and Tawfiq says that he is willing to do so, and even adds that in order to prove the truth of his words, he will also bring Taha Abu Fuad. As noted, this part of the confrontation is conducted entirely in Arabic. Interrogator Zeitoun does not speak the language, but together with him is interrogator Ibrahim al-Quraan, who understands the importance of these words, does not stop the conversation, does not translate the words, and tells Zeitoun to continue asking. Due to the dynamics described, a situation was created in which interrogator Zeitoun did not understand what the defendant and Tawfiq confronted and asked Tawfiq about the alleged threat, even though Tawfiq had already elaborated about it.
