The defendant holds a bachelor's degree in political science and another degree in law, is a lawyer by training, and is in his seventh decade of life. He performed his military service, among other things, in Unit 8200. In the past, he served as CEO of the Economy and Economy Company, CEO of the Center for Local Government and CEO of the National Lottery. During the tenure of the late Foreign Minister David Levy, he was appointed on his behalf to manage the negotiations with the Palestinians. In his affidavit, he presented himself as a veteran and experienced journalist and media person, and as part of this, he broadcast programs on Army Radio. For several years, the defendant has been broadcasting on the radio station Galei Israel and on Channel 14 television as a program presenter and senior commentator. (Paragraph 7 of the affidavit). During his testimony, the defendant insisted that he was not a journalist and had never been a journalist (p. 40, lines 31-33, p. 41, lines 1-11), but rather a media person "presenter and commentator..." (pp. 1-11) and see also paragraph 2 of the defendants' summaries, where the plaintiff was presented as "a media person and a political commentator".
The plaintiff signed a petition by the Israel Security Prize laureates against the legal reform promoted by the government (hereinafter: "the petition"), and against this background he was invited to an interview on the program of H.H. Ben Caspit and Yinon Magal (paragraph 6 of the plaintiff's affidavit, Ben Caspit's testimony, p. 5, lines 15-25).
At the beginning of the broadcast, the plaintiff was introduced by Mr. Magal: Hello, Colonel (res.) Yossi Langotsky... You signed the petition of the brides and laureates of the Israel Security Prize, who wish to express their deep concern about the proposed changes in the country's legal system and the manner in which they are being advanced.
