However, it can be seen that the common thread of all the contradictions and lies found in the statements of defendant 1 is his attempt to present defendant 2 as the initiator and main perpetrator of the incident, and himself as someone who was surprised and dragged into the event against his will; and they do not detract from the authentic impression aroused by his detailed, meticulous and chilling description of the manner in which the deceased was beaten, as well as the trust that must be placed in the detailed descriptions of the events that took place before and after the incident, after "cleaning" those lies.

Statements of Defendant 2

As stated, in his first interrogation, Defendant 2 was interrogated and warned on suspicion of committing drug offenses, and there is no dispute that he gave a false version in which he said things similar to those said by Defendant 1, regarding their stay together and about the planned meeting with the deceased, which did not take place (a version that, according to the defendants, they coordinated with each other in advance).  A view of the video footage of the interrogation (P/10B) shows that at the beginning of the interrogation, defendant 2 sat with his hands crossed and his legs crossed, trying to convey calmness and composure, sometimes smiling in a slightly smug manner, and answering the interrogator's questions in a calm manner.  Although, as Defendant 2 emphasized, this was the first time he was interrogated by the police, he hardly lost his composure even when he was asked about the deceased, and even when he lied clear lies (for example, when he said he did not know the deceased, or when he saw the money for the drugs in Defendant 1).  Later on, he was caught with quite a few contradictions, while changing his answers and adapting them to the material he understood from the questions in the interrogators' hands, and in the advanced stages of the investigation he appeared a little alert and less cool, especially when he realized that the police had additional evidence, for example regarding their arrival at a gas station and the attempt to purchase a flashlight.
