Defendant 2's father, Mr. Eli Maslawi, testified that on the day of defendant 2's first interrogation, he came home and met two people who introduced themselves as investigators or detectives from the Lachish area near the parking lot, presented a police officer's ID and told him that defendant 2 was required for interrogation or testimony; he said his son was at work and asked if legal representation was needed, and the police officers answered in the negative, saying that he had probably witnessed some incident.  According to him, he called his friend Herzl Moyal, who is a police commissioner, and consulted with him, and he told him that if it was said that it was a short testimony, there was no need for representation and that he should go and give testimony.  According to him, he told the police that Defendant 2 was at work and asked to bring him to the station himself, and indeed he went with his wife to pick up Defendant 2 from his work and brought him to the police station in Sderot.

According to him, at the police station he saw the detective who was at his house again (the witness later clarified that it was Superintendent Michaeli), asked how long it would take and if there was a need for legal advice, and he replied that he had nothing to worry about, that it was a short testimony and that they could wait for Defendant 2 at the station.  After a while, he contacted the journalist to find out what was happening, and he replied that he did not know and that it was an investigation by the Lachish Police Department; After more hours, he contacted the journalist again and insisted on talking to one of the policemen, one of them came down and told him that there was an investigation, and to his question if there was a need for legal advice, he replied that everything was fine and that Defendant 2 would finish and go home; About an hour later, when he turned again, the police refused to meet him.  He turned to his friend again, who came back to him about 40 minutes later, and told him that he didn't know how to tell him what was going on and that they should go home, and at around 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., they returned home.  According to him, at no point was he told that Defendant 2 was a suspect, and only at 2:30 a.m. did he inform him that his son had been arrested on suspicion of murder and that they had to go to court (pp. 514-516).
