In his suppressed testimony in court, there was a real change in his versions of these issues, and not only to them, as will be detailed later. This time, despite the passage of years, the defendant described in detail the events of the day of his arrest and explicitly confirmed his involvement in all the acts documented in the videos and testimonies. In the meantime, he confirmed that he had picked up Udai and Abd al-Hadi from the train station in Holon, and together they went to Holon and Beit Shemesh to buy things for work. He also confirmed that he was the one who called Abdullah al-Khatib and asked him to come to Tel Aviv to tow a Mitsubishi Outlander. Abdallah replied that he was stuck and would come later, and when he was free in the evening, the defendant told him to go to Tel Aviv and wait near Abu Kabir. In the meantime, he drove with Abed and Odai to the parking lot of the Mitsubishi, and Abed got out of the Mazda and drove in the Mitsubishi. Abed also wanted to replace the license plates, and he did so with the help of the defendant's screwdriver. The defendant admitted to exchanging the numbers and loading the Mitsubishi onto the tow truck, and that he lied in his interrogations with the police about all of these issues, including regarding the claim that the police were the ones who planted the replicated plates in the Mazda. Later in the interrogation, he was shown a video of the plate replacement, and he confirmed that he was driving the Mazda, got out of the car with a corona mask on his face, handed the screwdriver to Abed, and assisted him in changing the plates [transcript of September 11, 2024, at pp. 408-472].
The defendant therefore confirmed in his testimony in court all the data that were in dispute in the current context at the time the indictment was filed, in light of the incriminating and tight evidentiary body collected by the investigation team, which included the videos, the reports of the trackers and detectives, and the testimony of the tow truck driver. The false version that he gave in his interrogations with the police regarding all these issues was clearly refuted in the evidence collected, and in fact left the defendant with no option but to confirm the facts that emerged from the evidence collected. The evidentiary significance that must be given to those lies, version changes and suppressed testimonies will be examined later, and in the present context I will focus only on the facts that have been proven, which clearly link the defendant to direct and dominant involvement in the attempt made by him and other family members, with the exception of the Mitsubishi, which was deeply involved in the commission of the murder, from the parking lot where she was held "in refrigeration", disguising her identity by returning the original license plates, removing her from the scene of the murder and dismissing her away from any pair of investigative eyes.
