Criminal Case (Be’er Sheva) 20958-08-24 State of Israel – F.M. v. Muhammad Azzam - part 5

The defendant denied what was stated in section 3, according to which he had decided to join the Islamic State organization.  He said he worked as a doctor, supported a family, and never thought of joining the organization.

In denying the provisions of section 4, he claimed that he had not joined the Da'ar'ar organization in any way, but had continued his daily life and had not taken any action that would bring him closer to the organization.  According to him, joining any body, between a terrorist organization and the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, is done reciprocally.  In other words, joining an organization requires mutual consent (offer and acceptance), so that the organization is aware of a person's request to join the organization and the organization agrees to accept it.

The defendant denied what was stated in paragraphs 5 and 6, and reiterated that such videos may have been interspersed with his Internet searches on a variety of topics, but were not commissioned by him.

The defendant denied what was stated in section 7 that he was a member of a terrorist organization and considers this claim to be ridiculous.

Counsel for the defendant added that in the defendant's understanding, the security forces of the State of Israel tried to entrap him, like other Arab citizens living in the State of Israel, by uploading videos detailed in the indictment, directing them to a specific audience for intelligence purposes and falsely accusing them of membership in a terrorist organization or sympathy for terrorist organizations.
