Exhaustion of Lines of Investigation - In their summaries, counsel for defendants 2 and 3 argued that in various cases during the course of the investigation, lines of interrogation were opened to the investigative unit that were not developed or were not fully exhausted by the investigators. According to the claim, the main line of investigation that was not exhausted relates to the defendants' claim that they went to Hura to bring drugs back with them to Lod, while the investigators in the case stated that they did not believe that there was a need to investigate this issue.
It was claimed that the police did not check whether there was an intelligence indication of that claim and whether they tried to clarify it in a different way.
Another line of investigation that did not receive sufficient attention relates to the defendants' arrival at the "meeting point" and their guidance by another to this point, when defendants 2 and 3 said in their testimony that Muhammad was the one who directed them to the meeting point, but due to the failure of the investigative unit, the cameras were not taken down at all and the argument was not examined in depth.
An examination of all the evidence presented shows that during the interrogations of the defendants to the police, the defendants did not make any real claims relating to the drug version, and as noted above, even when claims were made relating to drugs, it was not possible to understand that this was an allegation of a plan whose purpose was to bring drugs from the south to Lod.
It is not superfluous to note that, as detailed in detail above, the interrogators repeatedly repeated their request to defendant 2 to detail his arguments that he was being deceived by another, but the defendant refused to provide a real clue that would enable the development of a line of investigation relating to drugs.
Even with regard to the direction of the defendants to the meeting point, after I heard Mr. Singer's words, and I got the impression that the same investigator did indeed examine the relevant cameras in our case, I do not believe, even after hearing the defendants' arguments on the matter, that additional actions should have been taken to examine the arguments of defendants 2 and 3 in the matter.
