In his cross-examination, he explained that he and the deceased were good friends, meeting in cafes and taking walks together. Because of this, he was also angry with the defendant "because he killed my cousin" (p. 272). Following this answer, Tawfiq added: "I, in my opinion, Ahmad has a problem with his eyes and he doesn't see well... He always blurs and that's it, he has a problem even from a young age, I don't know if he killed me (it should be him) intentionally or unintentionally" (ibid.). He doesn't know exactly what problem the defendant has, "Ask him."
Tawfiq denied that he and the deceased had a fight: "He (i.e., the defendant) took the words out of his pocket... lying... Yes... I didn't fight with Muhammad. I grabbed him and he started beating me that I would release him, that he should go and attack Ahmad" (p. 275); I also said in the interrogation that Muhammad beat me so that I would release him for Ahmad, and I didn't want to release him at all. We didn't fight, I caught Muhammad. Ask him to answer you" (p. 277). Tawfiq confirmed that at the end of the incident, Muhammad said that he would pay for the glass that was broken.
Tawfiq also denied that after the incident at the washing machine, Muhammad cried and got angry, and did so even after the defense attorney read him a correspondence in which it was written that the deceased cried because he was fighting with "Wasfi's son" (the witness confirmed that his father's name was Wasfi).
Together with him, the defendant and the deceased, there was also a cousin named Ahmad in the washing machine. In response to the defense attorney's question as to why he did not bring him for questioning, he said that he had spoken to Ahmad, but Ahmad did not want to give a statement. His cousin Ahmad did not have a phone. When asked about the identities of the children who came to the washing machine and were told that the deceased had been run over by the defendant, he explained that he did not know their identities.
