  1. At the café in Ashdod, Steif presented Elkabetz with a stenogram that she had written and read to him titles from material that Yuli had given her. Elkabetz explained that "She (Shteif-A.S.) gave a lot of headlines.  As if there was also corruption in the Bar Association, also connections of appointments in exchange for sex, also functioning in HaBayit HaYehudi, also judges, female judges.  A lot, a lot of headlines.  At some point I said to her, "Wait a minute, it's too big what you're saying." I wrote on, on the napkin.  There was, not a napkin, but there was, there was such a page on the menu.  "Come on, we're talking about a lot of topics here, and it's all headlines." So A, materials and B.  It's as if you're going to say what you're based on" (par.  p.  396, paras.  13-19).
  2. When asked if he knew at this stage that the materials were produced from hacking into Naveh's devices, Elkabetz replied as follows:

"What I remember both as an editor-in-chief with experience and for quite a few years in the media when I asked a question on the air, 'Look at this, these are materials that are simply explosives.  So you say you got them from Chani, the wife of the chairman of Effi's bar association.  So, so either you got it from her or you got it from a private investigator.' It's something that seems to be too big.  But Hadas didn't, she didn't respond.  She didn't, she didn't answer me yes and no.  I asked, I made that assumption and that's it."

(Par.  p.  396, paras.  23-28)

And later on:

"The first conversation in a café was a very, very emotional conversation, a very big conversation with lots and lots of material.  I also understood there, I don't remember if it was accurate from her own words, but you could understand that all the material was based on things she says and raises them from her relationship with Hani, Effie's wife.  And that's it.  All the questions about promiscuity and that, it's not something that was in the conversation at all, certainly not in the first moments or the first days.  As if it wasn't in the conversation at all."
