Call 3411 from May 15, 2018 - The defendant asks Cuta about the cost of the awning, complains about the price but says that he will take care of the check.

Conversations from September 20, 2018 - Hatuka came to his home to receive the check, the defendant who was abroad arranged for the caregiver in the penthouse to pass the check to Hatuka, and the caregiver informed the defendant that she had done so.

Cross-examination

  1. The work was carried out at the end of April or the beginning of May 2018 (p. 68). After he performed work in 2017 for NIS 35,000 and was asked to issue an invoice to another party, the additional work in 2018 was very small and cut, and he did not think that the defendant would not pay for it out of his own money and would ask him again to issue an invoice in the name of another party (p. 69). At this stage, he did not expect to receive work in the IPS through the defendant. If he had expected this, he would have done the work for free (p. 70). He eventually received the payment from Klaus. The caregiver who was at the defendant's home gave him the check (p. 71).

Testimony of Assaf Klaus (transcript of September 22, 2022)

Main Inquiry

  1. Klaus is the fourth defendant in the case. He testified that he did not remember what he was accused of and that he signed what they wanted from him. He was convicted of bribery, and received a sentence of community service and a fine.

Klaus testified that he confessed to the charges against him because he wanted to end the matter, and his attorney told him that he could confess and go home. According to him: "You made a combination... with my lawyer together" (p. 324). When asked if he had lied in court when he confessed, he replied in the negative, emphasizing that he had testified the truth in court. He added that he wanted to finish the case and go home (pp. 324-325). During his testimony in the main interrogation, Klaus was declared a hostile witness, and the matter will be detailed later.
