The defense also testified on behalf of the defendant's cousin and close friend, Udai Musrati.  This is a very central witness who, according to the defendant, was present at the meeting with Samer on Thursday evening, and stayed with the defendant throughout the day of the murder, so that he could support his alibi claim.  However, just like the defendant and the rest of his family, the version that Udai gave in court is also a suppressed version, after he was arrested, interrogated with a warning, and, like the defendant, suffered from sweeping memory difficulties.  As may be recalled, 'Udai was arrested together with the defendant, 'Abd al-Hadi and the tow truck driver, during an attempt to escape the Mitsubishi from the central region on 29 August 2022.  Udai was interrogated for the first time with a warning the next morning and claimed that he had nothing to do with the matter and that he had fled from the police because he feared that it was an assassination attempt, after his brother was murdered about a year ago.  He was only recently released from prison, and he does not live in regular articles and uses his wife and sister's phones.  On 29 August 2022, he arrived at the Wolfson station in a civil file and was picked up there, but beyond that he remembers nothing, is not willing to provide information about others involved, and from now on maintains his right to remain silent [P/178A].

On September 1, 2022, he was interrogated again and claimed that he did not remember what he had done on the day of the murder, but in any case he was not in Lod and did not approach it.  He refused to write the numbers 1-10, or to answer questions about others.  He also does not remember the day of his arrest exactly, only that the defendant and another person picked him up from Wolfson, and he sat in the back, fell asleep and woke up only when the police jumped on them.  He denied any connection to the murder, the Mitsubishi and the change of license plates [P/178B].  In the next interrogation, on September 12, 2022, he repeated the same claims, according to which he did not remember his actions on the day of the murder, was unwilling to provide handwritten samples, and on the day of the arrest he fell asleep in the defendant's car until his arrest, and did not know where they had been until then.  When asked if he met with the defendant or walked around with him that week, he claimed that he did not remember [P/178C].  He made similar statements in his last interrogation, on 19 September 2022.  For the first time, he confirmed that Abed al-Hadi was with them, when he said he only noticed it during the arrest phase, and as he put it, "I have a memory problem, what am I going to do..." [P/178D].
