At approximately 12:51 P.M ., Arpafan dropped his son off at their home and drove his car northbound on Ben Gurion Boulevard. At the same time, the assassination squad was driving down San Martin Street towards Arpafan's house, with the Toyota leading and the Mitsubishi following it. At 12:53 P.M., when Arpafan arrived at Ben Gurion Square in Lod, from the north, the others in a Toyota entered the roundabout and stopped their car in a way that blocked Arpafan's lane. Immediately, two of the others got out of the Toyota, approached Arpapan's car from the left side of the front, and fired at least nine shots from the weapon, at close range, at Arpapan, with the intention of causing his death. The defendant, who was driving a Mitsubishi, entered the roundabout shortly after the Toyota, passed slowly near the others while they were firing Arpafan, and continued driving to the planned meeting place with the others, in a dirt plaza located near Haim Khoury Street in Lod.
Immediately after the shooting, the other two returned to the Toyota and drove quickly to the scene of the encounter. Upon their arrival at the scene, the assassination squad began carrying out actions to disrupt and destroy evidence in order to avoid punishment and prevent or thwart judicial proceedings. As part of the disruption operations, the defendant and the others concealed evidence from the Toyota vehicle, set it on fire with combustion materials and fled the scene in a Mitsubishi.
Subsequently, at about 6:00 P.M., the assassination squad or someone on its behalf hid the Mitsubishi in the parking lot of the League of Nations in Tel Aviv-Yafo. As part of the disruption, on 29 August 2022, at approximately 7:00 P.M ., the defendant arrived at the parking lot with two members of his family in a Mazda car numbered 341-15-401, which was used by the defendant. In the parking lot, one of the two entered the Mitsubishi and began driving after the Mazda that the defendant was driving to a nearby street, where the defendant and the two replaced the duplicate license plate with the original Mitsubishi license plate. The defendant and the two continued driving in a Mazda and Mitsubishi to another parking lot on Ben Zvi Road in Tel Aviv, where the Mitsubishi was loaded onto a tow truck ordered by the defendant.
