Regarding the day of the murder, Friday, 26 August 2022, the defendant testified that he got up early in the morning and drove with 'Udai to eat breakfast at the Hummus Khalil restaurant at the Tzrifin gas station. According to him, they left in the direction of Tzrifin at around 7:00 A.M., put the car in the wash, entered the restaurant, sat there, ate, drank, and talked, and it took about an hour and a half before they returned home. In addition, they also bought hummus and salads to take with them, because he had planned in advance to go to Haifa that day. He claimed that during the aforementioned trip, he did not have any phones on him, because he did not work on Fridays and did not want to take a phone with him, so that he would not be disturbed. The defendant added that it is possible to check that on Fridays he does not answer the phones, and always leaves them at home, including the 401 subscriber [see extensive reference to this issue above in the chapter dealing with muting the phones - H.T.].
After returning from the restaurant, the defendant put the food in the refrigerator and went to the Mazda grocery store to buy some things like milk and snacks for the children. It was around a quarter to nine, and it took maybe fifteen minutes. After that, he stayed at home until noon. At a certain point, his father wanted to go to the mosque in Jawarish and asked for a car, and the defendant told him to take the Mazda, and that he would drive to Haifa in a Mercedes. Shaker drove to the mosque at around noon, and the defendant and Odai went to Haifa in the afternoon and slept there. On the way to Haifa, they heard about the murder, and Odai began looking for information about it on the Internet. We came back from Haifa on Saturday afternoon, and I stayed at home until Sunday. On Sunday I got up normally, everyone went to work, and I drove as usual to Tel Aviv, to Abu Khalifa in the Panorama building. During the trip, I received a phone call from Abed al-Hadi Musrati to ask how I was doing. We talked, I went to Abu Khalifa, I was there for two or three hours, and in the afternoon I drove to Kafr Qasim and Tira, and later I went to Haifa. I was at Udai's, who lives in the Kiryat Eliezer area, and Samer had just arrived there and gave me the phone he had taken from me, told me that he had managed with a new phone and gave me his new number - 760 - and I returned home to Ramle that evening.
