The box "including" in section 2(a) is in fact the tool for realizing the purpose of the law. Its placement after "the one who is a member" and before the demonstrative alternatives in sections (1) and (2) shows that the examples detailed therein do not exhaust the definition, but rather serve as case studies for a broader essence. In fact, the language of the law itself is aimed at examining the nature of the individual's connection to the organization as an existential-organizational fact, and not as the execution of a predefined technical sequence of actions. In other words, the legislative language in the section seeks to create a broad category of belonging rather than a "catalogue" of acts as implied by the defense's arguments.
The use of the word "including" makes it clear that the term "member of" is a broad "valve concept" that includes countless forms of affinity and belonging, thus ensuring the purpose – that anyone who contributes to the existence of the organization as a living and breathing body, whether by a personal declaration of loyalty or by preparing himself for an operational role – will be considered a "member of" the organization.
In other words, the box "including" in the purposive context means – no – to limit the definition of membership to the acts detailed thereafter only, but rather, that any act that testifies to the fact that the individual is a member of the ranks of the organization – fulfills the purpose of the law and falls within the scope of the offense of membership in the organization.
Reinforcement for the aforesaid is found in the explanatory notes to the law (Government Bills 949, of August 31, 2015, 1066), as follows in relation to the purpose of the law:
