Interior Minister Eli Yishai's decision to annex 3,000 dunams of industrial land from the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council in favor of the city of Beit Shemesh was frozen this week after the High Court of Justice accepted the position of the residents and the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council and approved an injunction against the move.

In his decision, the judge of the court wrote
Supreme Court Dr. Yoram Danziger: "I hereby order the granting of an order nisi whereby the Petitioner (Mateh Yehuda) and Respondent 9 (Beit Shemesh) will not change the joint border until another decision is made." He ordered the Respondents to submit their response to the request for an order Until June.

To date, the Ministry of the Interior has been making changes in borders, mainly in undeveloped areas and in accordance with procedures. According to minutes of the committee attached to the petition, Beit Shemesh Mayor Moshe Abutbul refused to accept land for development. The two municipalities, Mateh Yehuda and Beit Shemesh, came to the committee, in order to reach an agreement. At the headquarters of Yehuda, they estimated that they would have to give up about 200 dunams of their land, but were surprised by the large amount of land the Interior Ministry had decided.

In a petition to the High Court of Justice filed last week by attorneys Shlomi Turgeman, Rina Lapidot and Yair Aloni of the law firm of Afik Turgeman and attorney Vered Cohen of the Legal Bureau of the Council, it is estimated that the Interior Minister's decision creates a dangerous precedent According to which the local authorities are not required to invest development budgets and can use their connections in order to transfer to their ownership populated areas that the local authorities have been working hard to develop for years.1 According to the headquarters of Judea, the areas designated for annexation yield millions of shekels a year and constitute all the industrial zones of the council, Business means a severe blow to the time E.

Moshe Dadon, head of the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council, said: "The Honorable Court's decision to accept our request for a restraining order effectively confirms our position regarding the unreasonableness of the decision of the Minister of the Interior. We intend to present to the court all the data and evidence that proves that the minister's decision was based on a mistaken recommendation. "
