The Junior faculty members at the University of Haifa, who work on an hourly basis and report their hours each month until the 19th received their salary only at the beginning of the next month – thus, the salary for 19th of January through 18th of February is paid only at the beginning of March although the January part of the salary should be paid by the 9th of February.

The National Labor Court held that the date for payment of wages to an hourly employee is at the middle of the month but if the employee worked the whole month, the salary may be paid at the end of the month.  The law prevents an employer to reach a different agreement with the employee, unless it is for the benefit of the employee and thus even if the employment agreement sets otherwise, the January salary cannot be paid only in March.
